Time at Sainsbury’s: 8 years

I started with Sainsbury's as an industrial placement student where I was part of the Own Brand Marketing team, supporting the development and strategic planning of Sainsbury’s sub brands. During this time I was involved in the delivery of campaigns such as “Feed Your Family For a Fiver” and project managing our “Great Student Value” event. The year gave me a solid foundation into the world of marketing and confirmed this was the area I wanted to focus my career on.

After successfully completing my degree I returned to Sainsbury's as a Local Marketing Assistant, during these couple of years I supported New Stores, Extensions, Refurbishments and Competitor Impacts. I will always remember being given the chance to open the brand new Farnborough store, which at the time was just round the corner from my home.

Since this point I've moved around the department in various roles, one of the areas which particularly interested me was loyalty. Therefore a number of my roles involved me being part of the team which supported the development of our Nectar scheme across our business. I really love reviewing data and developing campaigns which are targeted and relevant for our customers.

Recently I've moved roles, and I now look after our customer planning team. This essentially means I'm responsible for leading a team that brings together the plan of marketing activities across our business to form a powerful Customer Plan for both Above the Line and Below the Line. We work with the Marketing teams to ensure we have the resource in place to deliver the plan whilst controlling our activity so our customers get the right quantity and quality of messages from us.

I really love my job, and enjoy the new challenges and variety of projects which I’m part of each week. One of the best parts about our business is our colleagues, everyone is a true pleasure to work with, and along the way I've met some life-long friends. Overall Sainsbury’s is a great place to work, and has provided me with some fantastic opportunities during the last 7 years.
