Online Finance Analyst
The aspect that interested me about Sainsbury's was the level of development support that is provided to colleagues. When I joined I was keen to study to become a chartered accountant and support was offered for this. I was supported with both financial backing and study leave before exams so that I didn’t have to use my holiday.I initially joined Sainsbury's within our Finance Operations team in 2011 and have since worked in a range of roles developing my knowledge of both finance within a broader businesses context and our business. I currently work in our Online Finance team as the Business Partner to project managers looking to develop new initiatives for our business. As part of this, I am required to help produce business cases for new investments, looking at both the financial and non-financial impacts. This supports our business by ensuring that any investments are financially viable whilst providing the best service for customers. I really enjoy my current role as it enables me to help make decisions which will have positive impacts on both our business and customers in the long term as well as the short term. After graduating, looking for jobs can be difficult, but there are lots of different opportunities within our organisation that would make great first or second jobs. We've a great culture for developing colleagues and as a result I've managed to gain a wide range of knowledge about different areas of both our business and of finance in general, which are going to help me continue my development in the long term.
